$175.00Our Chef Collective is back! Because it is our 10th one we decided to go big and do something very special for our supportive people in Wichita.
Soulayphet Schwader is a chef and co-owner of Khe-Yo, a Laotian restaurant located in Tribeca, New York City . Schwader was born in Laos and immigrated to Wichita, Kansas with his mother and siblings as a refugee when he was young He started working as a cook in a restaurant and later attended the New Orleans Culinary Institute . After working in several restaurants, he moved to New York City and opened Khe-Yo with Iron Chef Marc Forgione in 2013 . The name “Khe-Yo” means “green” in Laotian .
Schwader’s cooking style is inspired by traditional Laotian cuisine with modern touches
The name “Kamayan” means “to eat with your hands” in Tagalog, the national language of the Philippines. The truck was opened by Chef Alan Albarracin Jr. in the summer of 2015 and quickly became known for its flavorful pork and sticky rice. The Kamayan Truck offered a variety of dishes, including Asian-style BBQ ribs, chicken adobo, and lumpia (Filipino-style egg rolls). Graduated Scottsdale Culinary Institute in Arizona 2000. Internship in New York with Todd English’s restaurant Olives at the W hotel in Union Square and worked alongside chef Phet and Patricia Yo at AZ in New York. Started catering in 2013 and launched the Kamayan truck in 2015-2018. Currently selling real estate.
Doors will open and The Beer and Wine Mixer will begin at 6PM. Introduction and Dinner will be served at 7PM.
