SUMMARY:Steely Express LIVE: A Tribute Show
DESCRIPTION:Steely Express – The Tribute  \n“If film director Woody Allen was a songwriter\, he would be Steely Dan” \n– Jim Hill \nHere’s how it started this time: \nMusician Joe Sauer invited guitarist Jim Hill to lunch for Jim’s birthday.  Also invited to lunch was Joe’s son\, Joey who is a keyboardist/guitarist and vocalist Tim Drennan.  Joe says\, “Hey Wichita\, Ks. doesn’t have a Steely Dan tribute act\, so we should create one ” (knowing full well what a sucker Jim Hill is\, especially for Steely Dan).  So\, with Jim being sufficiently baited\, the band was born! \nJim tricked his wife Karen into playing bass and the group started learning SD songs and rehearsing.  After a few rehearsals\, the group decided to find a drummer.  Not just any old drummer\, but a drummer with great time\, a solid groove and deep pocket.  Brent Stuber was the obvious choice for the drum chair (or throne as it were..).  Next came renowned Wichita percussionist “Bongo” Bobby Thomas to add to the groove.  Finally\, the band added female vocalist extraordinaire\, \nTeketa Paschal as the crowning touch. \nSteely Express takes their common love for Steely Dan’s music and adds a unique entertaining twist. \nDoors open at 6PM \nFull Kitchen and Bar menus available and curated by Odd Fellow Hall
